Well, Kendra is a 6th grader.

Kendra is in the 6th grade band.  When she sat down with the new band director (who is a percussionist) he did his little test with her.  All kids going into band want percussion, but you have to have something special to be able to do it.  Well, Kendra came home with a big smile on her face.  The band director looked at her and put her name down as his first sixth grade percussion.  The director told me if she is really serious about percussion, she could be really good with practice.

On September 23, Kendra ended up in the emergency room and a few hours later in surgery for a ruptured appendix.  She spend 10 days in the hospital, and missed 17 days of school.  She went back to school on October 16 and has caught up with all her work in all classes.   She missed the last week of the first grading period and  still came out with all A's.  The second grading period just ended and she came out with 5 A's and 1 B (an 89) --so close to A honor roll again.  She was out of PE for three weeks, but was able to help in the office instead of doing things in that class.  She was glad to  get back to school and back in the swing of things.

Kendra's Hutto Lady Hoops basketball team has started up practice again and have a after the first of the year.  She is glad that her appendix problem happened when it did and not in November.

Kendra's 5th grade year in Review

In September 2002 I took her to the high school to participate in the Pass Punt and Kick local competition.  Well, she was the only girl in her age category,  and did a good job at passing and kicking the ball, she needs work on punting.  Two years ago, she and Colby both did it and advanced.

Kendra was chosen from her class to be on the elementary yearbook staff.  She took pictures of activities during the school year and was a very big help to Mrs. Lambeth.

She continues to enjoy playing basketball and did basketball camp for the fourth year a few weeks ago.  She came away with a bunch of ribbons and two first place trophies for their week of competitions.  Each year she gets a basketball, so this one made four from camps and then she has two others from another basketball program.  She is a good little player.  My little lefty.

Kendra enjoyed being in the fifth grade choir at school.  Her choir sang at Capital and were chosen to sing the National Anthem at a Round Rock Express baseball game on May 27th.

Kendra enjoys taking care of Tux, our one year old black house cat.

Kendra is on a basketball team that her daddy is co-coaching--Hutto Lady Hoops.  They have chosen some 5th & 6th grade girls to play together in tournaments.  They have practiced since mid April and have played in three tournaments.  They placed 2nd, 3rd and 4th.  They are learning how to play together as a team and having real refs referee the games.
